The new production unit of Apollo tyres at chennai would launch commercial operations in march 2010. The new unit Worth RS 2000 Crore would reach its full capacity of 440 tonne per day in a year's time. Apollo tyres has a total capacity of 1000 tonne per day at present. The new plant would increase the capacity by 40%
The Chennai unit would produce 6000 truck radials per day, about 8000 car radials will also be produced a day after its launch in march 2010. With this, the total car radial tyres form the company would touch 24000 tyres per day. The total truck tyre production of the company would be 17000 tyres per day which includes the 6000 radial tyres produced from the Chennai unit
Apollo tyres achieved a turnover of Rs 4000 crore last year. This year the combined turnover from both Indian and Foreign operations is expected to touch Rs 8000 crore. The comoany's target is to achieve a Turnover of $2 billion shortly. The company is planning to be one of the top ten players in the world in the next three to four years
