COMMON WEALTH GAMES 2010-Green Games

At a time when the whole world is taking steps to reduce the effects of global warming , through various steps like the recently held Copenhegen Climate Summit , government of India has already announced that they are taking a step further in their efforts to conduct a Green Common Wealth.Common Wealth Games 2010 is scheduled to be held in New Delhi, India between 3 October and 14 October 2010. The games is said to be the greatest sporting event to be held in the country. Government of India is leaving no stone unturned to make it a memorable event.The Commonwealth games is said to be held for the first time in India and second time in Asia. Government of India 's initiative to go green can atleast do a bit towards reducing the consumption of energy,water etc.It was also announced that recycled paper and stationery will be used for official work during the event.
Even the logo for the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games being recognized as the first ever "Green Common Wealth Games ". Countries like Canada ,Australia ,New Zealand have successfully hosted the common wealth games over the years.So this year Government of India is keenly working towards upgrading the infrastuctural facilities , security facilities etc to make this event successfull. So apart from the basic arrangements to be done ,it is expected that the "Green Games" concept would be helpful to reduce the carbon emissions from Games related activities.
