What does the “work” mean to you? To some it means unpleasantness, stress and drudgery; to others it means happiness, fulfillment, challenge and gratification. – (Catherine Pulsifer)
Most of us, B-School Grads, dream of ‘that’ Perfect life…..8 hours of work, 8 hours with family (dogs included) and 8 hours of SOUND sleep. Some of them however, choose the path less travelled. Dhruv Dhanda, a final year IIM-A grad, is one amongst the later.
Dhruv skips placement for a cause - the cause which touched my heart and influenced me to write this blog. Dhruv along with his six friends have taken an initiative to light up remote North Indian villages. The idea of social venture set rolling when Dhruv, an electrical engineer from the US, floated a facebook community “Donate a light” seeking small donations from members to install solar lights in five villages of Rajasthan.
Dhruv has skipped placements in IIM-A for this venture which is not entirely profit oriented. Also it rules out the major problem of electricity supply in rural areas of India.
May be this is what we called as “Conscience”? Not thinking as a machine which run profit oriented companies but as a good heart which desires to deliver good to society. This is exactly the point I wish to make – Real talent is that which is rightly oriented for a good cause.
ofcourse DHRUV had took a good decision. We all should follow one moto."COME IN TO LEARN AND GO OUT TO SERVE".What we are learning that should be for the betterment of our society.
