"Should India encourage manufacturing of small low cost cars like Nano before roads, fuel quality are improved?"

Small cars like Tata Nano are quite capable to compete with other cars in the Indian market.Nano is specially built to run on Indian roads and mileage is pretty good as well ( more than 20kmpl ). It's a good initiative to launch this kind of cars in India as other foriegn companies are experimenting day by day to launch more small and low cost cars.

But in my opinion India should not encourage small low cost cars like Nano before proper infrastructure development, as it may worsen the situation of traffic in cities like Pune, Hyderabad.People should learn safe driving habits before driving such small cars.We should be provided by effective public transport system like monorails,trams to avoid traffic jams . Also it creats less pollution.If Govt. provides the effective & economical public transport system in 2 tyre cities then it may see a fall in demand for small cars.
