Seems like I need the aid of silk , frost and strawberries to explain the title. Let me start with the last one, viz., strawberries. The fruit or the berry or the mystery has only been present all these years through flavours, colouring books, expensive sealed packets (which costs a fortune) and imagination. I do not even like the taste of any gum, sweet or anything edible with a tinge of the flavour. Yet I am so much attracted to it, to an extent which is fiercer than curiosity. Maybe the colourand shape counts. But I wonder whether I would have loved it the same if it were called 'jackfruit'. I bet that I would have associated the new 'pink coloured, ugly tasting jackfruit' with nothing sensual or attractive, not even anything close.
The brilliant association of the word 'frost' to diamonds is made in the movie, 'how to lose guy in ten days.' Though Ido not intend to delve into the deeper nuances of the scene or the movie, I must say that I once again experienced the power of a word in that phrase. The only frozen idea in our minds will be the beauty and the looks ,( definitely not the material value)...be it diamonds or strawberries. Some words do have the tremendous potential to freeze logic and awaken the fool in us.
And silk... it is not just silk sarees anymore. The chocolates, I believe, would have sold more than sarees, especially in St. Valentine's very own month of the year. The question is whether Dairy Milk's 'newest' all silky edition would stand alone as 'new' entry by a change of name and packaging without any significant change in taste ... or not. Maybe it does... words could add sweetness and flavour to not just people but to sweets as well. Maybe the proof of the chocolate lies not in the eating, but in a simple word.
