Hello friends everyday we use some cosmetics items especially girls but we do not know what side effects of these and how it made and how it safe for us ? So lets read it .
We use many cosmetics but we do not know that these cosmetics are tested on animals to ensure that they are safe for us or not. When someone uses cosmetics such as high-end soap, shampoo, foundation, lipsticks, perfume etc after that they look great. If talk to people about "Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC)" then they will tell us the stories behind those heavenly smelling creams and gets. Manufacturers test each and every item for eye/skin irritation , allergic irritation, skin absorption etc before sending them to the super market.
According to BWC , cosmetics companies test them on animals such as monkeys, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs etc with unspeakable torture . So that their products are harmless for humans. Companies test the creams and lotions by injecting them on animals and watch for reactions. They pour shampoo, hair colosursare into rabbits' eyes to check blinding, swelling and other reactions. In 'Draize test' the test is applied on the shaved skin of the animals such as lipsticks on monkeys to see a rash, burning or any allergic eruption. In ' the absorption test' the liquid is injected to see swelling, blisters, redness etc. In the photo toxicity test, the products are applied on normal or sheared skin for UV radiation.
After testing cosmetics on animals, if the animals are alive and healthy then recomend for use. In many tests animals go blind and suffer irritation. The BWC tells us that after the CD50 test, around 50% animals die. So, it is inhuman.
Cosmetics like castorium, collagen, elastin, glycerine, lanolin, pristane, kertin and silk oil/powder are derived from animals such as women's bindi may be animal glue, toothpaste - animal bone ash, shampoo - spanish fly etc. Cerebrosides - raw material comes from cattle, oxen, swine brain cells or other nervous system tissues which make the skin surface smoother, improve moisture retention.
Whatever tests manufacturers are doing are not aacording to the government law, but they are saying we are not using animals in our tests. Laws like trading standards and consumer protection should be in practie in most countries to show that their products are not toxic and dangerous.
Education officer and Geetha Jaikumar of BWC says that " Animals have rights and as a consumer don't allow exploitation of animals."
