The scientifically developed, genetically modified natural poison. (bt brinjal)


It may be too early to associate a negative opinion towards BT brinjal, but before discussing about bt brinjal lets us look into another product which is also genetically modified and being used, BT Cotton. Agricultural laborers handling Bt cotton had allergic reaction, swollen eyes, irritation, facial swelling etc. Bt cotton was developed to reduce use of excessive use of pesticide but reports states that there was heavy use of pesticide in cultivation. Even new soil diseases where created. Nearly 2500 sheeps died after grazing in Bt cotton fields in 2003. A test was conducted by feeding BT tomato to rats. The rats developed bleeding stomach. Similarly there are many other effects reported by use of Bt crops.

So if these are the effects of consuming a genetically modified crop, what would happen if humans start consuming it. The earlier instance show only human and BT crop external interaction, but if it is consumed what would be the consequences? Think once again…
